How the formula works
Selling Price = Cost × (1 + Markup%) | or | Selling Price = Cost ÷ (1 − Margin%)
- Total Cost Per Unit = Material + Labor + Overhead + Packaging + Other Costs
- Markup on Cost: profit is a % of your cost — easier to set, but the resulting margin % on the final price is lower than the markup %
- Margin on Price: profit is a % of the final selling price — guarantees that exact margin, but requires a higher markup to reach it
- Batch Totals = Per-Unit Value × Units to Produce
