How the formula works
Total Hours = (Qty × Cycle Time + Setup) ÷ (Resources × Efficiency) | Days = Total Hours ÷ Hours per Day
- Required Quantity = Number of units to produce
- Cycle Time = Time to produce one unit
- Setup Time = Time for changeover/setup
- Resources = Number of workers or machines
- Efficiency = Actual output % of theoretical
- Total Hours = ((Qty × Cycle Time) + Setup) ÷ (Resources × Efficiency ÷ 100)
- Days Required = Total Hours ÷ Hours per Day
- Production Rate = Qty ÷ Total Hours (units/hour)
- Scrap/Waste = Additional units needed to account for defects
